Six dudes, four films, one van. For the past several months Todd Sklar and his cohorts have been blazing across the country showing a collection of four feature films. Starting in Missouri, making their way out to the west coast, and then back to the Midwest, they've traveled much of the country screening their films. They were recently featured in Filmmaker magazine where Todd discussed his new DIY distribution model where the filmmaker bypasses the traditional network of distrubutors and travels with their film from state to state. The tour is making a stop here in Minneapolis this upcoming weekend at the Lagoon theater in Uptown.

Registered Minnewood members will receive free pass for two to the screening on Saturday by having a completed profile including a picture and bio on the Minnewood website. After you've completed your registration, send an email to info@minnewood.com with "FREE SCREENING" in the subject line and we'll send you the pass.

"So funny and ridiculous you'll be weeping tears of joyous blood."  –Maxim

A winner of top awards at eight film festivals, Chris Jaymes's comedy features a top-notch cast (Jeremy Sisto of Waitress, Judy Greer of 27 Dresses) in the story of three brothers coming to terms with the death of their legendary film producer father at his Hollywood-style wake. Featuring a superb soundtrack by Belle & Sebastian. (US, 2007, 96m)

"Plays like a cross between Richard Linklater's Slacker and TV's Seinfeld." –Time Out Chicago

At once painfully hilarious and delicately poignant, this whip-smart comedy follows four roommates during their final years of college. Dependent on their parents financially, and on each other emotionally, they spend their time sleeping in, hanging out, and repeatedly failing in both their scholastic and romantic endeavors. Shot on a shoe-string budget and self-distributed across the country, Box Elder is a laugh out loud collegiate love letter about young men (almost) growing up. (US, 2007, 90m)

Mon. Dec. 22nd: On the Road with Judas @ 7:00PM
- After Party @ The Independent feat. $1 beers w/ ticket stub
- Website: www.OnTheRoadWithJudas.com

"Those who enjoy the intellectualism, imagery and melancholy of The Royal Tenenbaums or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind should check it out." –Film Threat

A box within a box within several more, this mind-bending metaphsycial comedy follows an author slash would-be-author slash celebrity slash nobody as he bounces through various stages of his life and various alter egos. A kindred spirit with the offbeat narrative worlds created by Charlie Kaufmann, Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry,  J.J. Lask's first feature is nonetheless like nothing you've ever seen. (US, 2007, 100m)

Tues. Dec. 23rd: RSO [Registered Sex Offender] @ 7:00pm
- After Party @ Town Talk Diner feat. a lot of dudes eating a lot of burger
- Website: www.RSOTheMovie.com

"Relentlessly Entertaining" –Austin Chronicle

This disturbingly hilarious comedy by Robert Byington, the 2008 Sundance Annenberg Felllow, reveals the one thing that's worse than being a sex offender in prison: being a sex offender recently released from prison. Turning pathos into painfully funny moments, the splendid ensemble cast (Kevin Corrigan, Andrew Bujalski, Damian Young, etc.) makes this excursion an unforgettable one. (US, 2008, 80m)

Four energetic, irreverent, innovative independent comedies that have been turning heads and generating cult audiences at festivals including Sundance, Slamdance, SXSW, and CineVegas. These filmmakers are in the forefront of a new trend in do-it-yourself distribution; traversing the nation by van this fall, engaging in grassroots promotion to bring their films directly to the public. As director Todd Sklar, organizer of the tour, says, "It's all about getting the films out there and connecting with audiences."  —Barbara Scharres
